Very poorly written and leaves a lot of detail to be desired. Took me so long to read due to my lack of interest

I remember loving this book when I read it years ago. I would have tagged this as owned if it wasn’t for the one very delightful individual who borrowed it and never returned it, if you’re reading this GIVE ME MY DAMN BOOK BACK ITS BEEN FOUR YEARS!

Surprised by the amount of reviews saying this was boring - I couldn't put it down.

*I received a free digital copy of this book from the publisher through Edelweiss.
Powerful inside look at the story of a survivor of a plane hijacking. Elements were taken from the author's own experience.
To be honest, I didn't realize that hijackings took place as far back as 1970. Granted, I wasn't alive at this time, but I never learned about them. I appreciated the author's open-mind when discussing the reasons that the hijackers took over her plane. The world does tend to overlook the plights of people unless it's the "latest" thing. Americans especially don't have a very global-wide view and even less of an open mind when it comes to the people of the Middle East. I hope readers are inspired by this book to read up on the historical events surrounding this story.

I had my doubts about this book, but it's based on a true story and written by the person who lived the story, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm very glad I did. It ran through a range of emotions for me and introduced characters I cared about. I loved that both sides were represented and that the author created compassion for the hijackers. She did a great job of not making it a story of good and evil but of one with lots of grey where hard decisions and horrible things happened.

There was something about this book that I really enjoyed. I read it quickly because I just wanted to keep reading and I didn’t want to put it down. The fact that it’s based on true events made it interesting and I did find myself putting myself in Anna’s position while reading. I found this book out of luck and I’m glad that I had the chance to read it. Probably one I will read again. I’m also really glad that Fred the Terrapin was ok... was worried the whole time!
