I've read all of the books that were written by both Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, so I was wondering about a book that Sarah Pekkanen wrote on her own. And I might like it better? That feels mean, but I think I did. This book did make me realize that I just want everyone to leave their husbands all the time. And I guess this is kind of lite marriage propaganda that our partners aren't perfect and we should stick it out, and that's all well and good in the real world. But I am here for the mess. But I did enjoy this story and the writing was solid.
Graphic: Alcohol and Infidelity
Moderate: Classism, Grief, Terminal illness, and Toxic relationship
Minor: Drug use, Infertility, Miscarriage, Abortion, Confinement, Death, Emotional abuse, Medical content, and Sexual content

3.5 stars. This book was exactly what I was in the mood for over Memorial Day weekend - a quick, relatable read with a little more depth than I had anticipated.

Not interesting or good. And why did Savannah need to be fatphobic? Like why the body shaming? It served zero purpose other than to make me hate her, but I would’ve hated her anyways so it wasn’t necessary. I know this was written in 2013, so I get that it wasn’t this year, but come on
Moderate: Sexual assault, Infidelity, Fatphobia, and Body shaming
Minor: Vomit

Sarah Pekkanen’s The Best of Us is a marvelous novel about friendship. But it is also a journey of self-discovery as each of the women comes to terms with the various challenges facing them as they enjoy a decadent week long vacation in Jamaica. Please click HERE to read my review in its entirety.

Life is… so complicated, so slow, so fast. Raising kids, getting cheated on, having an affair, going on a weeklong jamaican vacation with old friends from college. A good story from the four women’s point of view.
