(Borrowed from Luann's Florida house) . Honestly, at some points close to four stars, a bit of a page turner. One twist I totally saw coming, and another one I sensed but couldn't quite put my finger on. Thought the plot was a little weak but that the writing was very...atmospheric. Really did have that noir-thriller feel to it. Writing dragged at times and it had one of those tables-turning-too-fast action sequences towards the end that I didn't love. Also, didn't quite buy the 'birth mom that won't go away' and then disappears. Maybe if I hadn't read the flap copy to know that there were going to be so many twists? It was just ok, a quality beach read but wouldn't be looking for something else by this author.

I couldn’t put this book down, there were some parts I didn’t like but overall the ending was amazing, I got some secrets in the middle of the book and thought that one character was really off. Feel like it deserves 3.5/4 starts for making me want to read more and know more and thats what I want and like in thrillers.

As far as psychological thrillers go, this one is one hell of a ride. The premise is good, the main character Anna Fox - just fantastic, and the story builds up to a stunning finale.

There are a lot of issues discussed in the story - agoraphobia, death, betrayal, and mental instability. Life is tough for Anna Fox, a former child psychologist, now separated from her husband and young daughter, and who spends all her day cooped up inside her home and spying on her neighbours through her window. What she observes and infers forms the crux of the story.

What works - The attractive story-line, the mind-blowing unexpected end, and 'unputdownable' sort of writing.

What doesn't work -It takes a lot of time for the actual fun to start. The first 50% of the book is just build-up and that could have been reduced to a certain extent. The book could have easily been shorter.

But, overall, it's an interesting book and fans of psychological thrillers will enjoy reading this and will be tempted to finish this in one sitting.

Excellent! Loved the twists and turns with this incredibly unreliable narrator. The end was particularly shocking to me! In a good way.
