Even though I clocked it, there was still so many plot twists that took me off guard and kept me guessing. Had me at edge of my seat a few times.

honestly, this book was very mid for me. it wasn’t a bad book at all and it wasn’t a book that I needed to DNF, but i just found it very slow and that it fell flat. for a crime/thriller, i felt the twist and turns, there were a few but they didn’t jump out you and there were no real twists or plot till over halfway through the book. i really wanted to love it more, but on the other hand it was engaging enough i still kept going! 🫶

I thought that the beginning of this book was really engaging, but I felt like it was a little long near the end. Was def in the dark about what was going on until the reveal, which I enjoyed. I'm not sure how accurate it was a portrayal of agoraphobia, but I liked reading about a character that this really dictated her life minute-to-minute. I was initially excited to find a new thriller author, but then I read more about him like lying about family members dying and having cancer? Which is so weird and not okay. So that's a no thank you from meeeee. But also,
why did the boarder keep the pic of the daughter on his wall?? very weird.
Also, was the first scene
supposed to be her boarder with the birth mother? I kept waiting for us to get back to that bit.
I also wasn't sure why Anna kept trying to talk to the cops, everyone, especially women, knows that if the cops decide that they don't believe you, they're never going to believe you, so you should stop making yourself look more and more untrustworthy.

Interesting premise. Maybe should’ve read the physical book instead of listened while I was doing other tasks. But overall found it ok. Not bad but nothing amazing

I struggled to figure out how to rate this book. I struggled through it, to be honest. It took me a really long time to get through this book, but the ending is definitely worth it. There are some good twists, and honestly I think it deals really well with mental health and PTSD. There were parts where I was really angry at everything happening to Anna, and then angry at her. I think the characters are nuanced and well developed, and the twists honestly were good. I was quite disturbed by the end lol.
