I'm no serious book reviewer so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

Book number 5 of this series has to be the most boring book I have read. This book in the series feels like Richard was forced to give them something to publish and this is all he could come up with. There was just so much filler information and not a whole lot of anything else. The pace of this book is SO slow and nothing at all important really happens until the last 30 pages of the book.

New characters keep getting introduced that seem like they are important and need to be remembered but then they just die off or leave. I can't keep any of the names and people straight anymore and it feels like there is just so much info for no reason.

Don't get me wrong the last 30 pages still have me invested and I am ready to read the next book but boy oh boy was this boring and a waste of time

Stupid cliff-hangers. I didn't enjoy this book nearly as much as the others in this series. Now I have to wait until Fall of 2016?!?

One of the slower books in the series I understand why it is needed overall to build onto the series. It was just a little difficult to finish without the usual action scenes of the other books.

I literally read this book in a day. I love this series and was so invested I couldn’t put it down!

Still felt slower and less interesting than the first two books, but it improved toward the latter half and ended with a great cliffhanger.

This one was a quick read, but it wasn't nearly up to Michael Vey standards. Seriously, almost nothing happens - there's no real action. The one thing I did really like about this one is that we see more of Hatch's Glow children and that's fun. Other than that and some quick, excellent commentary from Hatch on how to be a dictator (too scarily close to home in 2019-2021), the rest feels like filler to set up the next book. And yes, there's another cliffhanger ending. 3 stars - I liked it, but if it were the first in the series I would not be inspired to finish the series.

I love this series. The kids show real emotions and there is a lot of character dynamics. Also the characters are a lot different from each other but they still are able to be united and help one another.

Not my favourite in the series because there wasn’t quite as much action. Though this book was more for developing the plot than anything else. I feel like it could’ve been compressed a bit as it dragged on for too long.
