Hamish is pulled into investigating a murder once again when Priscilla's father's hotel plays host to an odd lot of singles from a dating service. Did one of them kill the loathsome co-owner of the business, and if so, why? And will Hamish ever get that central heating that he needs for the police station?

This isn't the strongest in the series, but there are still some things to like about it. As in every M.C. Beaton book, the victim is made to seem absolutely loathsome, but it might go a bit far here. Cat lovers are advised that one scene may offend them in particular.

This was a light quick cozy mystery. Half the book was the build up and the other half was the mystery itself. I enjoyed it and thought it was ok. You can tell this book was written during a different time.

Short and silly, but I really didn't see that person being the murderer, so that's a nice twist.

These novels are like movie popcorn. I love it, and enjoy it while consuming it, but always feel slightly guilty about it afterwards! This appropriate this time, because a truly disgusting woman is killed, and a crazy man did it, but felt guilty about it afterwards, not guilty enough to confess of course because then the novel would have been a page and a half long!

Not a great motive but otherwise a fun and light-hearted read, true to form.
