I loved the Christmas issue featuring the elementary children from the blind school that saved DD's butt. Also, even though the Mole Man is silly, it was touching/wrenching to see Matt Murdock have to cope with the loss of his father's remains, underscoring the loss of his father, and the vengeance that he took afterward, as central in shaping Matt and DD.

This collection is kind of all over the place, which I find typical of Waid's writing: when he's bad, he's very bad, but when he's good he's really good.

So ignore the clumsy cliched Christmas opening that's supposed to make you feel good but does the opposite because it's so damn clunky and focus on the rest of the book. There are more ups than downs overall, hence the 4 stars.

The artwork is handled by a number of people and ranges from competent to good. I dislike it when artists give Spider-Man expressions via his mask, such as narrowing his eyes to slits or making them extra wide. That's cheating and aggravatingly lazy. You need to stretch when you're drawing Spidey, using body language to its best effect. Relying on a mask that has the equivalent of sunglasses sewn into it to relying expressions annoys me and takes me out of the story. On that point, Paolo Rivera's art was off-putting, which comprises the majority of the volume.

Fortunately the story and dialogue carry it past the at-times lame artwork.

Really good, as was expected. Still, I'm missing the characters I've grown to love from the TV show: The Punisher, Karen, Elektra...

This was pretty good.

Taking place after Matt had stolen the omega drive, it contains stories where Matt teams with some children and rescues them after their bus driver crashes and bails on them and then the team up with Spider-man to clear his name or handle the insanity by going against the Mole man who had taken his father's corpse or even trying to prevent his public identity being leaked? Cool volume and takes some risks and like swings for the fences, in the every day life of Matt and there is an overarching story but I like these small time villains and face off and team ups and everything. Pretty good and the art is so lovely.

Loved issue 7!! The blind kids and Matt’s dynamic was great to read. Matt shows his paternal side and it’s heartwarming in a way.

The second part of the story was weird with Black Cat and the weird corpse man… did not work well for me and I genuinely did not care for the mole man… black cat was so sexualised too, that’s why I have a such a problem with female characters in the Marvel comics. They are too sexualised and often are too flirtatious.
