I enjoyed this I would argue the only 2 downsides where repetition and the references to his YouTube channel. I picked up this book on a recommendation from my university as I am flying to Japan in august this is not my normal choice of reading material. However I did feel I could relate to Chris as I am from the same area as him which I found out after a quick google search and I share some of the aspirations he notes through the book I feel these aspect added to my enjoyment.

Sarcastic British humour at its finest. Chris' memoir shows his journey accross Japan from being a teacher-turned Youtuber, and for me it was exciting to hear the stories of him exploring all of these undiscovered parts of Japan. Sometimes I like travel tv shows to be the Jane MacDonald or Michael Portillo type of content where everything is tailored for a British audience, and almost simmered down for our pallette. Whilst this book (unless it's been translated) was definitely suited for an international audience, Chris story isn't one of British prudeness but of a desire to fit into a new country, which it was nice to see something different.

I would recommend Chris' youtube channel of the same name if you want to see more. You'll see very much a similar character in his videos, but it's also worth seeing undiscovered Japan.
