Again, another cute story. I feel very much the same about this book as I did the first... I enjoyed it, but was slightly annoyed at all the "Could he, would he, should he love me?" stuff going on over and over on both Annie's part and Duncan's part (though it wasn't explicitly phrased like that in the book). It gets a little tiring. Oh well. I guess I like the happy endings and not the anguish in between. Duncan and Annie fit up there with Nathan and Moira, as well as Derek and Kate.

3.5 stars, round up because I really enjoyed the beginning.

I’ve loved Duncan from the first and so much about this book works for me. But that last 10%??

NO. Just, no.

All of the author’s understanding of trauma and her MMC just fell away for a witty HEA THAT DOES NOT WORK!
Spoiler Your FMC was just beaten and re-traumatized before being saved and then they just go to Gretna to get married … and then the epilogue ends with Duncan teasing her about being afraid of him? He wouldn’t do that! And if he would, he’s not who you told us her was. Why would anyone think that was appropriate? It just ruined it for me completely.

Love this series! This book is a sort of Cinderella/My Fair Lady story in which Annie is taken from an abusive situation and given the opportunity to become a lady. Love this clean Regency romance. Would definitely recommend this series to any historical fiction romance lover out there.

This whole series was a fun, quick, squeaky clean read.
I liked the second book in the series the best because it was more about a marriage, than the whole equation of falling in love, does-he/she-love-me-but-I-can't-talk-about-it-with-him/her etc. It was a nice twist.
It was fun to appease my cheesy Regency Romance addiction during Valentine's week. Especially since I am not eating processed sugar this month, reading helped me avoid all the sweets that have ended up in my house!
