Gavin has a lot of chronic pain that he spends most of his time hiding from his team. He is a very prideful man, but as Oliver gets to know him Gavin starts allowing Oliver to be his emotional support through his physical pain. Oliver suffers from anxiety and Gavin is receptive enough to offer Oliver his support without making him feel embarrassed about it. The emotional development of the relationship was incredibly satisfying and this is one of the best romances I have probably read this year.Â
I also love that the side characters also play an important part in the story. We get to see a lot of funny sibling interactions between Oliver and his family. His niece is also an adorable addition to the cast of characters. Oliver's niece helps bring out a softer side to the usually grumpy and serious Gavin. The book feels balanced in many ways that I wish more romance novels were. Overall, this is one of my favorite installments in the series so far and I look forward to reading the next one.

Some gripes:Â
- The audio version should have had two narrators. I didn't feel that Tim Paige distinguished between Oliver and Gavin enough, and since it's dual POV, that got a bit confusing over time.
- This is not enemies-to-lovers no matter how it's marketed.
Insta-love is a way more accurate trope for this book, even if it took them a while to figure out that's what it is. - Also, lots of reviews say that this is Roy Kent and Ted Lasso if they were gay and I strongly disagree. This is fan fiction about S1 Roy Kent and S3 Jamie Tartt if they were gay.Â

Age rating: 17+ (3-4 steamy scenes but they weređ„!! 2.5/5đ¶ïž)Â
I love a good queer soccer romance, especially if itâs written by Chloe Liese!! This was a really hot, tension-filled athletic rivals to lovers story, where they are co-captains! Itâs also grumpy-sunshine with an age gap (34 and 24) and an only one bed sceneđ€. Let me just say, this was the hottest and most tension filled Bergman Brothers novel yet, oh my gosh!! But even while pretending to hate each other, you could still tell they really deeply cared for each other!! I love their relationship so much!! I also loved exploring the mentality of an athlete who is reaching the end of their career, and how they have to cope with basically having to re-find their purpose in life. The previous books with athletes only depicted them at the beginning or prime of their careers. I also loved the discussion about being an openly queer professional athlete!! I also loved seeing an update on the other Bergman couples, since thus does have a 4 year time jump! I canât wait for the last two books, but I donât want this series to be over!!
One mmc (Oliver) is bi and the other mmc (Gavin) is gay.Â
There is also mental health rep!! Oliver struggles with anxiety and panic attacks.Â
A note for the audiobook: they only used one narrator, even though it was dual pov, so it got confusing to remember whose perspective we were in, and at times confusing. They definitely shouldâve used two male narrators in my opinion.Â
