I'm just gonna say right now that the biggest reason I loved this book was because of the Star Trek references (hello fellow Trekkies/Trekkers 👋🏼). Hands down would not be able to rate this book less than 3 stars for that reason alone. However, luckily for me, it was also a fun story that had me wondering how on earth these two were going to be together in the end.

Tropes:
Paranormal/Sci-fi romance
Ghost hero & only she can see him
Billionaire MMC
Journalist FMC
Star Trek Fandom
Virgin FMC
Trauma/healing
Soulmates vibes
Insta-love

Single POV

Although this story takes place in present-day times, the paranormal aspect with Daniel being a ghost gives this a cool twist. I automatically thought of the movie Just Like Heaven with Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo (which is a big reason I wanted to read this book because I loved that movie). The plot does follow a similar structure to the movie but also brings its own uniqueness with the characters' personalities. I loved how Jillian grew in the story and was able to heal from her grief with the help of Daniel. They both needed and helped each other but in different ways and at different times in the story...

I will admit that for people who are expecting a pure contemporary romance, they will not like the insta-love of this book. But with those who know paranormal romance, fated mates and soulmates are the bread and butter of that genre. So it didn't annoy me the way it normally would if I wasn't expecting it.

As far as the side characters, I didn't really get super invested in them as I usually do with other romances. But that's OK... a few were memorable and had their fun personalities, but my focus was more on the MCs and trying to see how they'll end up together.

Overall, I highly recommend to all my fellow romance loving Star Trek fans. Also, paranormal romance fans will like this one, too. The spice is low and more focused on the emotion than actual descriptions, but was still open door. I was able to listen to the book and thoroughly enjoyed how the narrator brought each character to life. And that second epilogue... it was just wonderful 😚🤌🏽

Thank you to Netgalley and W. W. Crown for the ALC. All thoughts and opinions are my own and offered voluntarily.
