The book immediately starts off with a bang and I was locked in from there. I had to know how Lexi overcame such horrible trauma. Watching her grow into a powerhouse was so inspiring. And the love her men have for her was beautiful to witness. 🀩

I LOVED the world building and magic system. It was so creative and unique. One hell of a cliffhanger and I’m salivating for the next book! πŸ˜… Thank you Valentine PR and the author for the eARC!

πŸ–€ I love Lexi. Even with all the abuse she suffered as a child and being forced to raise her sister, she always stands firm, not letting anyone impose on her. This is her weapon to hide the fact that her soul is completely destroyed.

❀️‍πŸ”₯ I'm enjoying books with fated mates more and more.
The bond that is created is so strong and, at the same time, dangerous because they suffer when they're not together.
I loved it when Lexi found Valentine in her dreams. It was one of my favourite parts. (Yes, Valentine is my favourite)

I read the book very quickly, it's gripping from the beginning because there are secrets and prophecies, and then the twists and turns...and the world created out of sight of humans and the higher power that resurrected these lost causes.
I want to know why, what's the point? What's the purpose of this second chance? Why live forever? 😱

●●● I want to know everything!!!

J Rose, how dare you with this ending? I already want the second book 🫣

Thank you, @jessalynthorn and @valentine_pr_ for this amazing ARC 🩷

Lexi, a fierce warrior, has triumphed through tough battles that have forged her into a beacon of strength and bravery. With a haunting secret that ended her life abruptly and violently, she struggles in the shadows as part of 'The Redeemed'. Unbeknownst to her pivotal destiny within their murky future, the gripping start of her tale hooks readers in. The nail-biting cliffhanger in the first book "If You Break" left me craving more, eagerly awaiting the next chapter in this thrilling trilogy!

Lexi is a freaking SURVIVOR & I love her for it soooo much!

things are intense from the beginning as we get to know her and her history. she’s had a difficult life, forced to raise herself and her younger sister, struggling to keep them both alive and safe, without any support or end in sight. the weight of these burdens is understandably overwhelming, and drowning her pain is the only way she gets through the day. I feel for her immediately. her love for her sister is pure and her priority. you can see clearly that despite the stains on her heart (both self inflicted and outwardly inflicted) that she’s a compassionate and kind person. after meeting her tragic and sudden demise, she’s given a second chance. a second life. I really enjoyed how the author handled this unique take on reanimation and β€œmagic” or Vitae, as referred to by the Redeemed. considering this is an urban fantasy, I do think we could have benefitted from a bit more world-building and background lore without it subtracting from the suspenseful nature of Lexi’s arrival in the compound.

this story was fast-paced, wrought with emotion, and peppered throughout with some of the most delicious love-triangle moments I’ve read in a while 🀭πŸ₯΅ while our girl is still getting her bearings and learning to navigate this new life after death, she also finds herself balancing two new soulbound mates that were thrust upon her by the elusive Vitae and forces at work. these two men are equally dream and devoted to our girl & boyyyyy did I love watching them circle her. I cannot for the life of me decide who I love more, Daniel or Valentine.. but then again.. do I have to? NO!

as individuals and as a unit, these three are formidable. watching them find a balance and overcome their pasts was both hard but sweet. Daniel and Valentine are the perfect bonded to uplift Lexi and support her while she takes control of and rebuilds her life. she grows from that scared and hurt girl to a powerful and self-assured woman.

I would absolutely recommend checking trigger warnings, because this book can get DARK. but all that darkness and trauma only adds fuel to the fire that is Lexi’s wrath & after that incredibly harrowing end.. I am rooting for her feminine rage to be unleashed on her enemies!

Thank you to Jessalyn Thorn and Valentine PR for providing an ARC of this book for me to give my honest review!

Lexi's story grabbed me from the prologue.  This is a paranormal romance which has a little bit of everything but the heart of it is definitely Lexi and her journey from victim to survivor to warrior.  Lexi has protected her sister for her whole life and sacrificed so much to keep her safe; I'm glad she started to see her own worth beyond her protector role as the book progresses.

I like Daniel and Valentine as being two sides of the same coin with their own history as well as how different their relationships with Lexi were.  Valentine was so charismatic and his attempts to charm Lexi were just the perfect level of slow burn to balance the back and forth with Daniel.   I wouldn't be mad if Ravius showed an interest either but I don't think its on the cards.  I don't know what it is about that character but I just wanted more of him especially after meeting the rest of the siblings and seeing their dynamic.

This was such a unique take on the secret society and fated mates tropes. The world building was really interesting and the mix of magic and the mystery surrounding the Redeemed really left me wanting to find more about the mythology as well as the history of the siblings.  The twists and turns in this kept me engaged completely especially towards the latter half when the action picked up.  It was so good and I genuinely didn't see that ending coming. I'm looking forward to the next part of the series.

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

An Absolute Gem

What a crazy and wild ride!

This is a re-released book of the author’s debut and wowzers (!!) it was fantastic!

I was not ready for this one at all, it really blew me away and I am hanging, waiting for the next installment!

The first notable experience is the different approach to the paranormal element, I absolutely loved the author’s take on it!

The characters were wonderful, and the world-building hit just right!

This book is filled with enemy-to-lovers, found family, deep trauma, grief, anxiety, banter, lovable characters, secrets and spice. It’s a story easily devoured and definitely leaves you wanting more!
