I picked this up with such high hopes. Had no idea there was a prequel I could read before, and went in blind. I felt like I just got dumped into the middle of a plot - not the first time and I usually don't mind - and then it just... fell flat? I was confused a lot of the time, and struggled to read it I won't lie. For me, I should've been able to read it in an afternoon and it ended up taking me days to finish.
I did enjoy the story, but there were some points that just didn't make sense or felt off. With the reveal of several plot twists I felt very out of the loop. I didn't know characters, didn't understand why they were there or even who they were, and generally it took away from the experience for me. I also wish that we could have had more of the dark, twisted side of the mafia and more fleshed out plot to balance the scales, but all in all it was a decent read.
That said, the spice in this book is good, and I did enjoy it. It was more 🔥 than it was anything else, and really that was the only time I felt really compelled to keep reading.
Am I a little disappointed? Yes. Do I regret buying & reading it? Not really.

Really gave me haunting Adeline vibes. So an obvi 5 ⭐️ however I wish it did tie more into Greek mythology than what it did. I didn’t like how it wasn’t Jonás who was trying to black mail them or even marcelline. It might have helped if I read the prequel but I was real disappointed in how the blackmail plot wrapped up. The ending felt rushed and like Elena didn’t even care really about her siblings when she decided to blackmail her parents. I wanna know more details ab violet cause she kinda annoyed me a little. I really like the female bartender in the beginning and I wish she stuck. The spice level in this book was worth every frivolous word. All in all the book was very good plot points including I would read it again but def revoked reading prequel first even if it’s a stand alone.

Such an interesting and entertaining read. A loose retelling of Hades and Persephone’s story. The beginning was a bit wobbly but the book catches its rhythm and I was hooked.

I enjoyed A lot about this book if you know you know.  I basically just ignored that this was an age gap romance because I don’t like those that much. Also the mafia aspect was not a lot in this and it honestly didn’t make sense. I did like the relationship. I hated her parents and wish we got to see more of her and her sister. The epilogue was kind of annoying tbh.
