On "if you don't have something nice to say..." rules, um, the paper quality is pretty fantastic...

Aside from that: who in their right mind appoints Terry Moore to write a superhero/action book? Isn't that like asking Rob Liefeld to write a sensitive, feminist coming-out story?

I didn't like the art in this one very much. The story was still good, and like with all the other volumes, the ending was epic and made me desperate for the next one.

But yeah, the art was meh.

Definitely reading the next one though. There's only two more volumes in this series (I think), so I will probably just go ahead and order both at once.

This was a surprisingly good arc. I was expecting it to be a significant drop in quality from Vaughan and Whedon's runs, but Terry Moore managed to keep up. Sure, I will concede that it's not as good, but it's pretty damn close. Moore got all the character's voices right, especially Nico, Molly, and Xavin. Just overall a very fun story. Humberto Ramos' art can be hit or miss with me, but it was very enjoyable here, especially with the amazing Christina Strain on colors. She makes the Majesdanians look absolutely incredible as always.

The Runaways were my first foray into graphic novels and I have enjoyed everyone from vol. 1 to vol. 8. Brian K. Vaughn did a great job with the first 7 and Joss Whedon...well it is Joss do I need to say more. However, there was something just off with vol. 9. Terry Moore just seemed to be one step off with the characters. No one seemed right. Even the illustrations seemed off. I was sadly disappointed.

Xavin’s decision at the end and Victor seemed the only things that felt “true” to the book. Chase was horribly out of character - he’s dumb like a fox, not dumb.

I'm still enjoying it, but the trend of it becoming a more mainstream superhero comic that began with Joss Whedon's run is getting more noticeable.
