As someone who is not a Hollywood buff (or even the opposite, I'm probably the least knowledgeable on that topic..), I was pleasantly surprised at how I fell in love with this picture book biography. I had no idea who Hedy Lamarr was when I picked this up (hides from CA movie buff friends) but oh em gee, she's amazing. I appreciated the multitudes she contained and how she was never ONE thing, no matter what people may have seen at the time. What a brilliant person, loved learning her story

A great book about a movie star who was soo much more. I've recently read the fictional biography, THE ONLY WOMAN IN THE ROOM, and if that research is correct, Wallmark did an excellent job of bringing this story to a young audience without adding all the adult content...
I especially appreciated Lamarr's quotes sprinkled throughout the book...she was a brilliant woman who DID live to see her invention, and her contributions, acknowledged. As she said in accepting the Pioneer Award from Electronic Frontier Foundation, "It's about time."
Indeed. When you talk on your cellphone, thank a glamour girl.

This is a picture book for older kids or adults. It tells the interesting, but true, account of Hedy Lamarr, beautiful actress and amazing inventor. How awesome is it that such a person helped develop a technology (frequency hopping) that we all use today. It is used in cell phones, computers, and other electronic devices. Without it our electronic devices would be more open to attack. Just the right amount of information.
