I really enjoyed this book! It gripped me from the very beginning and I enjoyed exploring the two different timelines I feel as though they different timelines made the book read really fast which is always a positive for me. I also must say this book shocked me TWICE with twists which never happens to me I am often able to guess twists before they happen.

The reason I’ve rated this book a 4/5 is because I found Toni to be incredibly frustrating at times. She was a great mother and I loved that she wanted to work hard to provide for her daughter, but the constant slip ups were really irritating for me they left me feeling, at times like I wanted to shout at her through the book.

I listened to this book through Audible and I really enjoyed the narrator. Over all really pleased to have read this book and I highly recommend it to all thriller lovers.

Blink by K.L.Slater is a a gripping fast paced psychological thriller with great twists and turns.

Tori Cutter lost her husband tragically in Afghanistan and finds it difficult to cope with day to day activities and resorts to sleeping pills. She and her five-year-old daughter Evie move closer to her mom in Nottingham for a fresh start. In a financial crutch, Tori finds a job at a real estate company, meanwhile Evie finds it difficult to cope in her new school. One day Tori is late picking up Evie from school and faces a mom’s worse nightmare. Evie has disappeared and no one knows anything. For years Tori gets blamed by the media and judged by other people for being a bad mother. But she hasn’t given up hope and will keep searching till Evie is found.

The story goes back and forth between “Three years earlier” and the “Present Day”. The characters are very well developed and one cannot help but feel for Tori. The book is full of twists and turns which keeps you guessing throughout. It is a cleverly written, fast paced, psychological thriller with a surprise ending.

Many thanks to the publisher & NetGalley for this advance reader copy in exchange for my honest and fair review.

If you are a fan of good tricky thriller - that's not the book. If you like solve mystery before the end of the book - not gonna happen. 1/3 part of the book tells it all and to listen more or less the story about struggling mom and some one silly misfortune during which child is kidnapped... nothing new here.

A read by a tea cup for few evenings, nothing else.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author.

I was looking forward to this after reading so many great reviews. It starts off with a great backstory, the present revealing a comatose woman wondering what happened to the missing girl, while the past shows a single, grieving mother attempting to cope after losing her husband in Afghanistan. And things seem to go from bad to worse, as those surrounding her are hellbent on making her life as difficult as possible. This is where the red herrings were too obviously thrown all over the place.

And yes I did guess who was behind the abduction halfway through the book, which is the biggest problem when you try too hard to stop the big reveal and the pitfalls of following the standard thriller formula.

If you're an avid thriller reader - this will be another run of the mill novel with a less than spectacular showdown.

If not, it will be an enjoyable read.

I really enjoyed this book! It had lots of clever twists, turns and red herrings which kept me guessing the whole way through! The chapters switch between the present day and three years ago. In the present day, you get the point of view of someone who is in hospital suffering from ‘locked in syndrome’ meaning that they can hear and see everything around them but can’t move. I was trying to guess the whole way through who this person was going to be but I was still shocked when the big reveal came! When the chapters flip back to three years ago, the story follows Toni who is trying to bring up her daughter Evie in the wake of her husband Andrew’s death. Things are really difficult for them after they are forced to relocate to Nottingham and Evie struggles to adjust to her new school. And then one day the worst happens and Evie goes missing.

All in all this is a great thriller and I’d highly recommend!

Not for me, anticlimactic and not really worth the hype. Story doesn’t have much of a point

WTF! There are no words to describe how incredibly twisting this novel is. None. K.L. Slater slayed it with this fast paced thriller! This book has been one of my favorite reads yet!

When we first start reading this undeniably breathtaking thriller, we see that it alternates in-between two timelines. The first time is 3 years back and the second timeline is the present day. Toni, widow and mother to Evie, lost her husband during a military assignment. To make life just a little bit more simpler for them, they move closer to Toni’s mom. She stars a part time job at a real-estate agency and has put Evie into a new school. Toni left a good friend back home (Tara) who also lost her husband in the same military assignment and had recently lost her child.

Being in this new town and finally getting this new job, Toni finally believes things are starting to look up for them. Toni even made a new friend at work, Jo. Toni had high hopes for this new town and the minute she believed most of everything was going to be okay the worst scenario could have happened. Toni’s mom slipped and fell down the stairs and Toni was late to pick up Evie from an after school session. When she arrived, Evie was gone. She had been abducted.

Toni had everything working against her the second her daughter was taken. Toni had a recent history since her husbands death of taking pills that help calm her body and almost put her in a slight comatose state. She became very forgetful of small details and spaced out often during conversation. This alerted Evie’s teacher, Miss Watson and she started to become very pushy when it came to Toni and her mother. The police couldn’t identify a suspect three years ago but when a stroke victim who is pronounced in a vegetative state is brought into the hospital everything changes. Because they are undeniably connected to the disappearance of Evie Cotter.

Bookouture has done it again! Another 5 star rating for an amazingly written dark and consuming novel. Even though it took me a few days longer to read than I hoped, I devoured the pages every time I picked up my kindle. If you are a fan of Behind Closed Doors, I highly suggest this novel. K.L. Slater not only had me guessing to the very end but she also made me loathe characters too. I am a preschool teacher and the way Miss Watson handled her profession, the children and parents were so unethical. There was even a point half way through the novel where I had thought one person was not the person who I thought they physically were. Way to go Slater!

Thank you tremendously to Bookouture, NetGalley and K.L. Slater for allowing me to read this novel for my honest review.
