This book was very okay. I ordered this book as my March 2020 pick from Book of the Month and was super excited to read it. The premise was excellent - a mock killer, who makes his living by helping the rich and famous identify the holes in their defenses, is framed for murder. However, while the book was fast-paced and objectively contained some interesting intrigue, action, and suspense, I found myself almost entirely detached from the characters and not overly invested in the outcome. The ultimate ending of the book seemed like a sure-thing and, as a result, the story was less captivating than it could have been.

⭐⭐⭐- I Liked It

This was really well done. High action, tactical, and political intrigue. I finished it quickly and was entertained the whole time!

A surprisingly enjoyable book, but perhaps my expectations were low. The action starts on page 10 and doesn’t let up until the end, which makes this a really quick read. Pretty much every word drives the plot forward, there’s no wasted words or fluff. You don’t really get to know the characters that well, but just enough to be invested in who wins and who loses.

Sort of reminds me of a decent action movie. Entertaining but not super memorable

This is a fast-paced political thriller that was easy to digest and kept my interest throughout, even though I don’t usually read political thrillers. The chapters were very short and switched between the perspectives of a few different characters, which added depth. There were a few loose ends that I felt weren’t wrapped up, but other than that I really enjoyed this book and would read more from the author.
