Razones por las que leí The Cold is in her Bones de Peternelle van Arsdale: (1) su hermooooosa portada, (2) el título y (3) es un retelling de Medusa. ¡Y qué historia tan bella! Esta es una historia de amor, venganza y redención inspirada en el mito de Medusa sobre una chica que descubre secretos del pasado para salvar a su mejor amiga de una maldición. Me gustó mucho :)
COSAS QUE ME GUSTARON:
➸ Es un bello relato sobre la hermandad, la amistad, la familia, dos jóvenes encontrándose a sí mismas y, bueno, venganza.
➸ Esta es una novela que realmente ilustra lo que es la soledad y lo que se siente encontrar a tu primer amigx. No es fácil vender un libro que dice "una chica criada en una sociedad opresiva y sexista" así como así, pero la prosa de Peternelle van Arsdale y la idea de su historia te capturan enseguida. Milla es una protagonista que no tiene permitido dejar la granja en la que vive donde sus padres no la aman y donde ella busca el consuelo de un hermano que no la quiere. Lo que más me gustó de este libro fue la manera en la que la autora capturó lo que se siente estar solx y de repente encontrar a alguien, y no en un modo necesariamente romántico.
➸ ¿Una ambientación aterradora mientras las garras de diferentes demonios se aferran a las páginas que estás leyendo? ¡WOW! En serio, la amabientación es grandiosa en ese sentido y, como dije antes, el escenario de la sociedad es sumamente interesante de explorar.
Peeeero le daría 2 estrellas a este libro. Creo que se merece las 3 que le di debido a lo que la autora está poniendo ahí afuera, pero también quiero que sepan que la puntuación que le otorgo a The Cold is in her Bones en cuanto a lo que para mí fue la calidad de la novela es de 2 estrellas. Honestamente, no creo que este libro sea una obra maestra y, bueno, me aburrí bastante :/ No es una lectura que me haya cautivado al 100% y debo confesar que quise abandonar esta lectura en varias ocasiones. Además, la escritura no me gustó para nada, aun cuando el trabajo general de la autora me gustó.

Ooooo, this was bad...
Going into this, I did not know it was Medusa inspired story. It read like a fairy tale or like a nursery rhyme. Very lyrical and whimsy. However, it did not impress nor live up to any standards.
The story line was incredibly boring and the characters fell very flat. Our main character, Milla, was just weak, naive, and so unrealistic to be the "hero" of the story. Just did not fit well and the Medusa idea was done poorly. It did not fit the any of it.
I got through it only because it was a shorter read. The cover was gorgeous and really had me intrigued. Other then that, not very enjoyable.

quick read. I read it in 3 hours. I really like her writing style is so easy and enjoyable to read.

I tried so hard... SO HARD. I mean, demon possession and Medusa inspired? Like hell to the yeah. Sign me up.
Unfortunately, a lot of this just felt like...filler? I didn't feel like much of anything really happened. As soon as I saw I was approaching Part 3 and I still wasn't into it at all I decided to DNF. I try not to DNF when I can, but I seriously didn't see any hope of redemption in my eyes. This is clearly a hit-or-miss type book. Reader beware.

This book was alright.
Took half way into the story for me to be invested in any of the characters, and the writing was odd, interspersing stories within the dialogue that seemed either out of place or too on the nose, taking me out of the narrative.
However the plot does kick off for a little while, which pulled this up from a 2.5 star to a 3 star.
