I admit, that i started the series mainly because other people here on goodreads where mentioning it in a positive way. I did not think i would like the books. I was wrong.I got hooked, line, sinker and all.
the one good thing about starting a series that has been going for a while, you dont have too wait to continue reading. I found myself waiting anxiously for this installment.
Usually, as a series Progresses, the story line sort of declines a bit. I am glad that this is not true for this author and series. The story line never gets boring, there is always some action, and she introduces new characters. The main characters stay true to their story line and it wants you to come back for more. You want to keep reading, you want to find out what happens next.
The author mentions so many places in Chicago, that i myself wish i could go there and visit them all and maybe, jsut maybe run into Merkt&co.
All in all, this is book that was very enjoyable to read. I am looking forward to more from this author, espen that she concentrates on the UF and not so much of PNR.

I’m just not that invested in what is happening and would rather focus on other books.

Incredibly excited for the next book; this had the PERECT ending. Fellow fans will appreciate all the tension (sexual or otherwise) and stress, in and cause by the book; it's well worth it in the end. ;) LOVE Ethan and Merit!! ❤

Ethan and Merit are back together. YAY. BITING COLD picks up immediately after the events of DRINK DEEP

I had a harder time getting into BITING COLD in the beginning but once the action started I was back glued to the pages waiting to see what would happen next. I know Mallory is Merit's best friend and all but I thought she got through everything a little easier then I would have preferred. Sure she is suffering but she caused SO much trouble and hurt, she was selfish and she could have destroyed the world. I was very happy with how Merit treated the whole situation. I was shocked by the multiple twists regarding Seth Tate, who would have thought? Ethan drives me nuts sometimes. He still attempts to "protect" Merit in BITING COLD in his usual way and I really wish I could have smacked him upside the head at one point. He did however fix his thinking. I missed not having Jonah a big part of the story but hopefully he will be back in a greater role now that Ethan is back for a whole book.

Loved the ending. Cant elaborate on that but I cant wait to see what happens after the results were revealed. There are so many things about this series that I love and so many things that still need to be revealed. There is no way I could miss a Chicagoland Vampire book so i will be reading book 7 as soon as humanly possible

Started a tad bit slow but got into it after 20 or so pages. 5 stars. I need the next one right now because of that ending!

Sometimes I think it just happens, an author takes a turn you don't like, it is like a annoying buzz in the back of your mind.. Ethan should be dead. I'm sorry, I just cannot handle that he is back, I was really amazed that an author killed off a main character, I was feeling it, actually enjoying it, it added a whole new dimension to the relatively flat characters. BUT she wusses out and brought him back, and what do we have..... BORINGness... It was painful getting through this book, I eye rolled about a million times, Ethan you're boring, Merit you're boring... Supporting cast you're zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

And Jonah, you were the best character.... W T F BORING and Seth Tate, are you effing serious, awesome bad guy is now a wussy Angel, did I just read a twilight novel? No bueno on all counts.

The single reason I give this 2 stars is because, maybe just maybe, the next book could be good, I do like the prospects of the house sans GP. This could be promising.

Holy smokes that was an intense book so so much happens the world is a changing that is for dang sure. Human are finding out there is more to what they originally thought. Mallory and Merit may never be the same.

I kind of loved this book the most out of the ones I have read so far. Also, the battle scene was epic!

The switch in narrator didn’t throw me off as much as I thought it would, Sophie is a favorite of mine so that was a plus. I think she actually did a better job because she gave other characters their own voice it was refreshing.
I can’t wait to listen to the next one.

2012 has been a year of me giving up on various series or authors that I have previously been very loyal to. I have given up on Morganville, Strange Angels, The Women of the Otherworld (although, technically I saw that one through to the bitter end), ended my brief foray into the Immortals After Dark series. And sadly, after Biting Cold, I think I am going to have to add Chicagoland to the discard pile.

Oy! This series had so much promise! Hard Bitten took such a brave step in killing off the main love interest. Ethan finally pulled his head out of his ass long enough to save Merit's life in exchange for his own - wonderfully gut wrenching. And then along came Drink Deep, with its random inclusion of the enemy within and Ethan's underwhelming and oh-so-convenient resurrection. I knew Biting Cold would be a tough book coming after the events of its predecessor, but once again I found myself disappointed.

The biggest problem for me is that I just don't buy Ethan and Merit's relationship. It aspire to be epic and moving and full of obstacles, but ultimately it feels like two self-centred idiots making life deliberately hard for themselves. Ethan is ridiculous with his hot/cold approach and is incredibly inconsistent - loving and supporting one moment, arrogant and demeaning the next. And Merit is one of those girls who just fails to recognise a bad thing in front of her, at the expense of some really nice guys stuck with gazing after her longingly. In rom-coms, the girl would wake up and realise the nice guy was the right guy, but not Merit.

Frustrating. And the finale was underwhelming, given the hype surrounding Seth Tate and his evil schemes. Character inconsistencies abounded - Mallory still boggles my mind, the Seth/Dominic split was perplexing and even Catcher didn't quite jive with his previous appearances (although to be fair to him, he had a lot on his plate this book).

If House Rules has an incredible blurb, I might pick up a copy, but this series will be strictly library jobs from now on.
