Good story with likeable characters, well most of them anyway.

Jake is a wolf shifter & cage fighter. He fights in the Pit, where shifters are there to fight to pay back debt owed to the dragon brothers who own & run the Pit. He's been entranced by the doctor, Jess, since she was hired. Jess is an Omega & just happens to be from the same pack where Jake used to be Beta under the Alpha who was Jess's father. Both of them disappeared at the same time, and Jake no longer remembers his past prior to the cage fights. She's there trying to locate her brother who disappeared after a fight in the cage & hasn't been seen since. Jess has wanted Jake for as long as she can remember. He thinks that there is something familiar about her, but he can't figure out how he knows her. They eventually give in to their desires for each other. She has been trying to puzzle out why Jake isn't healing as fast as he should after his fights, and she finally figures it out. He needs to claim a mate or he'll lose himself completely to his wolf. With help of the twin's older sister and one of the twins, each with their own agenda, they work to save her brother & take down the fighting ring.

The only thing I thought was missing in this story was a bit of the back story of Jess's dad & Jake going missing. It is in the story, but I thought it could have been expanded upon. It by no means distracts from the story. The characters are all individuals with their own personalities. The plot is wonderful & has great world building. The story does have violence in it--cage fighting, a physical attack against Jess, and an attempted rape--so if any of these are an offense to you, I don't recommend picking this up. The scenes of Jake & Jess are steamy. There's an unexpected twist towards the end which makes you look forward to book 2. The story has a HEA & the unexpected twist is a cliffhanger.
