Good old school horror just as I remember it. Some of it is a little dated, and the casual borderline homophibia is a little 1970s de rigour. Other than that, an enjoyable read.

What a rollecoaster ride. The book starts off with a bang, and the action never stops until the end of the book. There is one or two downs in the book serving as breathing space, but the book is action packed. There is a lot of gore in this book. But it never gets too graphic. It’s weird how he was able to manage this, but the author gives us just the right amount of information for us to know what is going on. While leaving us some ambiguity to let our imagination do the rest. This is so good. It’s a masterclass on writing good gore.
Story is about this fog that turns ordinary people into murderers if they breathe in this fog. We don’t really know where the fog comes from, until we’re near end of the book. We never really know what the fog is, if it’s sentient or not. One thing is for sure, where the fog goes, mayhem follows.
It’s a near perfect book. My first book by James Herbert, but not the last!

I hated this. It was way too long and what was with those random really graphic sex scenes?

This book is the first I've read by James Herbert...and it was absolutely fantastic. Never have I read a book with such gory, horrifyingly disturbing scenes.
I can't say much more - just read it for yourself.

Jolly good story! But do ignore the sex scenes,
