The start was so great until the middle of the book it was just brilliant. But then...bam. A few pages after she wakes up it's just strange reading this book. I was sitting there and was just thinking: "WHAAAT?! Why is this happening now? What's that even supposed to mean?" Really, really weird. I liked the part where Jared speaks to all of them though. But this whole "everybody falls asleep, build up a new world, wisdom bla blah BLAH" was just annoying after a certain time.

This book has a wonderful setup and is quite strong and gripping for at least the first half, but it gets squishy and preachy at the end, basically ruining itself.

Love this book. What I consider to be classically his style.

Not my favourite Coupland but easy enough to read, a bit too trippy for my taste.

I used to love Douglas Coupland and have read pretty much everything he's published, but this book was a pile of garbage, and by 'garbage' I mean 'shit'. Worst ending EVER!!! I was so pissed off at the end of this book that I threw it across my room and stomped on it (not recommended for bare feet), and then tossed it off of my balcony. Read any other Coupland book, but stay away from Girlfriend in a Coma.

My third Coupland and my least favourite so far. This just feels like a poor imitation of 'Hey Nostradamus', while the former was compact and focused, this felt all over the place and messy. Almost none of the idea's here (while all good idea's, if a little... boring? Played out?) are given enough time to be fully expanded upon.

The characters were standard for Coupland, and I personally didn't feel a connection to them.

Saying all this, the writing and prose is gorgeous, almost lyrical at points and the plot when interesting was very interesting.
