DCI Walker and Dr. Cavendish are at it again.  They are trying to solve the murders on trains that end up in their community.  They believe it is the Carriage Killer who has killer before.  He always kills in groups of four.  Walker and Cavendish are getting into a good flow.  Even thought they are very different, they work well together.  We can also development in their personalities base on working together.  They catch the killer.  I felt the mystery was well done and the police procedures handled in a way that made sense.  I would recommend the book to those who like mysteries.  I believe this book could be read without reading the first books in the series but I think enjoyment is enhanced by reading them in order.

When a 14 year old boy is murdered on the train, the case is linked to a series of murders happening across the country by the so called “Carriage Killer”. In this novel we are introduced not only to another case for Whitney and George to partner up on, but also the addition of an outside force brought in to support the investigation - against Whitney’s wishes.

It is good to see the development in the friendship between the two women in this addition to the series and I look forward to seeing that continue.

Another intriguing mystery with added danger thrown in that although was somewhat predictable still made for an interesting addition to the narrative.

This series is going from strength to strength.

The professional relationship between DCI Whitney Walker and forensic psychologist George Cavendish is strengthening now that they have each other's measure, and so is their friendship. George is learning it's okay to trust personal details of her private life with Whitney, and Whitney is learning that she can confide in George when she is struggling - in this case with her mother and brother going into different forms of sheltered accommodation.

In this book they are joined in the investigation of a serial killer by two unwelcome visitors, officers from another task force who initially underestimate and antagonise Whitney's team. As a police procedural it is solid and, although there are not a lot of twists, the story moves at a good pace and balances the investigation and Whitney's and George's private lives well.

I have enjoyed each of the books in the series and each one is stronger than the previous one. It's just getting better and better and I can't wait for the next installment!

It would seem that the Carriage Killer has made its way to Lenchester when a teenager boy is found dead on a train. If all goes as before then there will be three more murders within the next two weeks. So Detective Chief Inspector Whitney Walker and her team have a very short time to investigate and hopefully find the guilty party.
An enjoyable crime story though I didn't really take to the major characters.
