Currently 61% into the book and I am really enjoying it so far: the author focuses a lot on the narrator’s emotional state as he is slowly going insane.

• So far into the story, Arthur Kipps has been hired to attend the funeral of Mrs. Drablow (widow who lived alone in the desolate Eel Marsh House) and settle her estate. During his first day away from London and in this eerie small town, he sees a woman in black (which he describes beautifully imo) and hears several unsettling sounds. Arthur convinces himself to “face his fears” and sleep at the Eel Marsh House instead of going back to the village hotel he was assigned to spend his nights in.

RANDOM PREDICTION:
Arthur has just been given a dog to keep him company at the house, I would be lying if I said I don’t already feel bad for that dog cause I just KNOW he’s gonna be found dead sooner than later…

UPDATE:
I finished it and holy shit I kinda loved this.
The dog is okay (a bit traumatized but okay) unlike Arthur. After having another unsettling episode at the house in which he almost drowned with the dog, he was found by Mr. Daily who took him back to his house and eventually explained to him everything about the woman in black, including the fact that every time she haunted someone, a kid in the village died.
[While sorting out Mrs. Drablow’s papers, Arthur found out that the woman in black was her sister, who had to give up her son and then watched him drown from a window of the house. Now she basically haunts people and take their children because she lost her own]
SO AT THE END IT WAS NOT A KID IN THE VILLAGE WHO DIED THIS TIME.... ARTHUR WENT BACK TO LONDON AND YEARS LATER HAD A SON AND THIS WOMAN CAME BACK AND LITERALLY KILLED HIM AND FRACTURED ARTHUR’S WIFE WHILE THEY WERE AT SOME AMUSEMENT PARK?! HE HAD TO WATCH HIS 1 YEAR OLD KID DIE AND THEN HIS WIFE DIED MONTHS LATER DUE TO THE FRACTURES...
