Bought a copy at the museum in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, after visiting the cemetery and a trip to the actual bridge. Read parts of it before sleeping on the banks of the river. Literary tourism for the win!!!!

Believe it or not, the book is extremely funny and witty despite the horrible subject matter. Gave it only four stars because of its historical inaccuracy. The book is so pro-Caucasian, completely disregarding the discipline and intelligence of their Asian counterparts.

Well worth reading, but only as an introduction into a terrible episode in history that must not be forgotten lest it be repeated.
