Parts of this book are really cute. I really enjoyed our main characters attitude, her body posi self esteem, and her ability to grow and forgive people who previously she hated. Once she gets to know them better or at all they all grow. I enjoyed that. I also really enjoyed the witch bits that was fun.

The parts of this book that I was not a fan of.... gross love interest mental conversations in really horrible external situations like funerals and such I was like wow this is so not what my brain would be going over at this point in time. I also was not a huge fan of the lets be a bitch to everyone just cause thing our narrator had going on. It really made no sense.

The ending was pretty good and overall it was an alright reading experience.

This was a book about grief, that had some fun moments to lighten the difficult subject matter. Mila was a character I enjoyed rooting for, and I love how the four girls became friends at the end.

3.5/4 stars. i definitely really enjoyed my time reading this book. it’s really funny, and made me laugh out loud multiple times. there definitely wasn’t anything wrong with this book, and it’s just one of those books that i can’t really explain why i didn’t give it a higher rating. i really liked mila, and i thought all the other characters were great too. i think just the climax wasn’t that surprising to me but that’s really the only thing. i definitely mad me happy tho, which is why it might be closer to a 4 than a 3.5.

4.5 stars! I really loved this but there were some parts where I wanted more. And definitely needed less of the mushrooms. The description and visualization made my skin crawl! Other than that it’s a phenomenal book that I really enjoyed!

SpoilerUndead Girl Gang is a book that starts with the deaths of three local high school girls, all three deaths ruled a suicide. Popular girls June and Dayton were found hanging from a tree together, while Mila's best (and only) friend Riley was found drowned in a dirty creek. The first problem? Mila doesn’t think her friend would be caught dead near that filthy water. The second problem? Mila and Riley are Wiccans, and right before her death, Riley ordered a grimoire with a resurrection spell inside. And it worked!

What follows is a story about how to try to hide decaying zombies from the rest of the world and utterly failing at that, and new friendships. I liked that these girls who used to be bullies and bullied got to know each other through such a unique experience and despite being 3/4th dead, came out better for it.

The problem I had with the book is something that’s mentioned by Mila as well: the utter incompetence of the local police department. They were pretty quick to decide the girls died from suicides, and I’m guessing that’s because no one in this otherwise quiet town wants to have a murderer on the lose? In any case, the deaths of the girls are a little bit suspect, as June and Dayton were hanged, but how did they get in the tree? Did they use a step, or did they climb into the tree and then jump? That would result into different kind of injuries (asphyxiation versus broken necks). One of the girls’ shoe is missing. Where did it go?

With Riley’s death it’s even more bizarre that they only seem to consider suicide versus murder, instead of the third option: just an unfortunate accident. The reason Mila brings Riley back from the dead is to catch her murderer, but in the end when Riley gets her memories back, it turns out it was just a stupid accident of slipping and falling, hitting her head on a stone, losing consciousness and drowning. Something that should have been clear after an autopsy and investigation.

Speaking of catching the murderer, what was quite the spell that was used to point them out to the girls. ;)

I would recommend this book if you have time to read it and the blurb looks interesting to you. It’s not a must-read, but it’s okay to pass some time. Happy reading!
