A slow start, jumping between different characters and a little cheesy, but 25% of the way through I got more into it.
Ended up loving it. It’s very sweet. A story of two unlikely friends processing their grief by reading. Learning to cope, to understand, and sometimes- to escape.
The end was beautiful. The book brought tears to my eyes more than once.

When I started off reading I thought that I would really like this book. It has the elements of a cozy book about books. However, there were several things that ultimately caused me to be disappointed in the book and how the story played out.
First, I thought the occasional chapters about random people discovering the list felt odd and out of place. They were a distraction from the main characters of the story.
The way that the storyline about Aiden plays out felt really unnecessary to me.
I am so, so, SO over the miraculous coincidence as a plot device.

This story is just not for me. I’m not really connecting with the characters and the not really grasping their connections with the books on “the reading list”. If you enjoyed Albert Entwistle or AJ Fikry, you may enjoy this. Another story about an older gent living life through stories.
