So real that you can smell the disinfectant.
It introduces to a compelling cast of characters, where with the height of their career Hailey shows his writing at the very height of his powers. Tension packed-drama and mammoth complexity of a great busy hospital ..a world where one faulty diagnosis, one irrevocable error precipitates appalling tragedy.
Hailey takes us behind the reception areas, the emergency rooms and the bustling words, to reveal the hidden corridors of a world the patient never sees...
This hospital drama once again evoked that wish to become a doctor, for which i tried and failed but for good and better i suppose. :)))

As always with Arthur Hailey, he throws you headlong into the details of the situation he's chosen. His research is always outstanding, and continues to be so here, as he follows a hospital pathologist through travails of hospital politics and his marriage.

This book was so old-fashioned and the lab techniques were so different from what was done today but the essential storyline was fast-paced and very entertaining.

Even though it is an old story and much medical advancements have taken place since then, it offers a fascinating insight into medical profession that has amazing relevance to the present day.

My type of book - as a fan of Sidney Sheldon I recommend Arthur Hailey wholeheartedly. My only gripe is I want to know about Vivian's final biopsy, what did Coleman see? Very good thriller and I'm hoking out the next one.

This is one medical novel that has left me very much moved by its close knitted plot.

I wish the book ended with Alexander knowing that Dr Joe was funding for his education and Dr Mike instead of being a coward would marry Vivian as he intended in the first place.

Ha, ha, this is another book I read as a teen Loved the autopsy scenes, almost as much as the sex scenes. All kinds of "good parts."
