I've developed an unhealthy obsession with S.A. Cosby's writing, his storytelling, his way with words, his masterful character building, his craft, his genius!
This is the third Cosby book im reading and just when I think it couldn't top how I felt about the previous two, My Darkest Prayer came through and just knocked it out the park. Nathan Waymaker is my kinda guy.
Hard-core, lawless but wears his heart on hid sleeve for everyone he cares about. His a man that has served his country, his community, have lost everything that means the most to him. He is angry and is using that to rebuild his life the best he knows how. This book needs to be on a big screen somewhere! Absolute genius storytelling!

So good…..and the narration was amazing. Happy to see that they used the same narrator for his latest book, which I plan to start next.

I loved reading a thriller-type book that takes place in a black community, more specifically in the black church. I found the climax to be quite underwhelming and a lot of the details felt unnecessary (why was the protagonist mixed instead of just black, that added nothing, why was it relevant that the preacher’s daughter was an adult filmmaker, etc.). I was hoping for a more dark, southern undertone. I enjoyed the writing style for the most part and would love to read some of Cosby’s newer works.
