Sophie Callaghan is a P.I trying to make ends meet whilst trying to right the wrongs committed by her con man father. Harlan Franco is a bounty hunter and assigned to watch over Sophie by someone from her past. So begins a story of secrets, lies and love.

Wow, I REALLY enjoyed this one. I'm usually bored out of my mind when I read a slow burn type of romance, but this one had enough sexual tension that it kept me interested and turning the pages right up until the end. I adored both Sophie and Harlan, though I wanted to shake some damn sense into them both on several occasions. Communication people, it prevents a whole lot of misunderstanding and pain.

This author has created a bunch of great side characters and I can't wait to read what is going to happen in their books. I loved Dug, and Zeb, Israel, Gemma, Pipe and Annie. So many great characters, and so many story possibilities. Overall I thought the plot flowed nicely. There were a couple times I thought the story dragged a bit. It had a nice little bit of angst towards the end, and I may have shed a tear or two. I also enjoyed the epilogue, even if it was just a 6 weeks into the future look at this couple.

In anycase, this is a total two thumbs up recommendation for yours truley.

I did not like Harlan or Sophie at the beginning of the book. I kept reading to see if they would grow on me. Unfortunately annoyance toward the characters became dislike, apathy about the story became boredom. The pacing was slow, and there was no appeal with the plot or the characters. Harlan came across as smarmy, Sophie as tragic and a little desperate.

Enthralling love story with sparks of hilarity

Find somewhere comfy to settle before you pick up this gem of a book! This story captivated me from page 1. The characters were both sexy and relatable. Pardon my political correctness but there were so many messages of body positivity in this gem of a book. Unlike many other romances where the ladies seem like they are straight out of the Stepford Wives; Sophie is tall, strong and completely incapable of walking in f*@# me heels. Loved this. Finally a novel where I can picture myself as the lead instead of desperately wishing I were 18, short, blonde and perfectly put together.

The unexpected (yet perfectly placed) bits of humour were the icing on the cake for me. I burst out laughing when Sophie described how '(t)he experience of living with Harlan was as much fun as a case of hemorrhoids'.

I look forward to reading more of Hayson's books. They are "bound" to be brilliant!

Sophie is a PI, scraping by with all kinds of jobs including catching bail jumpers. She travelled around most her life with her preacher dad and discovered after his death six years ago that he was a con man. She is paying back his victims but is also trying to find out her fathers connection to a man named Petrov.

Harlan is a bounty hunter and he has his own security agency. He is hired by Petrov to gather information about Sophie. Petrov thinks she might be his long-ago kidnapped daughter.

Harlan and Sophie have crossed paths before and he left her humiliated after a passionate encounter. Now, she still feels attracted to him, but thinks he is only into petite blondes. Harlan is trying to keep Sophie safe and while they butt heads all the time he falls for the feisty PI. But what about his assignment Sophie knows nothing about? Both have issues from their past and have difficulties opening up to others. Communication is a key word.

This is a 5 star read as it ticked all kind of boxes for me. Sure, there are some issues I have with the story like the sometimes choppy conversations and it could have been a bit shorter. I also questioned Harlan's expertise at times as Sophie had no trouble ditching her security whenever she wanted. But these are minor issues to me. I look forward to the next book!

When I first started reading this book, I didn't find it interesting but being me I had to finish what I started. Gradually with the more I knew about the characters, my interest developed. The more I knew about their histories, their struggles and their aspiration, I was drawn into the story.

It turned out to be interesting after all.
