(...) A luminous poet in dark times and an apparent poet in a time when what meant often had to go through the coded and hermetic expression for the uninitiated, it may seem like a contradiction. But Eugénio had learned that clarity from two poets whose simplicity of language and images did not diminish his art: António Botto and Federico Garcia Lorca. (...)
