I've read better Wattpad stories written by teens.
Here's what got on my nerves: (there may be spoilers her. Beware)
Here's what got on my nerves: (there may be spoilers her. Beware)
- The poor hero who has "never" met a woman who would "look past his looks"... While pining after the only woman he ever loved who abandoned him for his brother. He clearly has poor taste in women so that is no wonder.
- Greta. A glorified bully. She's someone's grandma, important to the pack and picks on every women (esp the ones who get together with one of "her boys"), who then has to defend herself to prove her worth. She's fat phobic and sexist and I won't tolerate it.
- The way this heroine talks herself down. She doesn't feel pretty (even though there is no evidence whatsoever that she is considered unattractive by anybody. Literally every man here flirts with her).
- The way the hero treats her. As soon as he body shames her i was done with him. That was at 3%
- They get into a solid relationship at ca. 35%. But since they're both either toxic as hell and/ or "damaged", the book just drags on for too long.
- The paragraphs were all over the place. As if the author randomly pressed enter when she felt it. No distinction between each character when they spoke, then one sentence cut off in the middle and resuming in the next line.
- The audacity of the author. At some point when reading a book one has to consider that maybe this female side character is not a bitch because those "simply exist" (which i don't believe in btw) but because the author was lazy and wanted some drama. So she just demonized some woman bc we all know how shitty those are, amiright?? No. That is lazy writing. And add to that the fact that both "bitches" wanted the hero bc he's so attractive or whatever?? What kind of motivation is that?
- Consent. "If you say no I'll simply do it anyway" says asshole beta and she melts away (not a quote but I'm paraphrasing the whole book here). He will not take no for an answer and when she says no she actually means yes. What a horrible message.
- The speeches he makes while trying to train her. He's sounding like some NAVY commander, and there's little i hate more than American military.
- Cool that he had some character development after she literally had to threaten to leave him multiple times because he REFUSED to prioritize their relationship over his job. He constantly said he never wanted to give up on his job and she never even asked that of him.
- The fact that she has to stand up against his "exes" to somehow prove her worth but he never had to do anything of the like.
- The fighting scenes were so boring. Like. If u had just told be "they were fighting. Number one has the upper hand. Now number two has the upper hand. One is bleeding." Etc. I would have been way more invested. But no. Uppercuts and backflips were involved. My god.
