I really enjoyed Jane's last book so I was excited for this one. I love reading about other cultures and I love a good second chance romance. Unfortunately, this one missed the mark for me, but it was highly emotional as well. If you don't have any triggers, this book is probably for you. I am a sucker for soulmates, but this one just felt off to me. I urge you to try it though, because I am probably in the minority and my triggers held me back.

okay see this is the book I NEEDED after being a bit of a book slump. holy cow. this shit had me crying (which was more of me feeling too much like a hopeless romantic) laugh & yell at the plot (seriously bc the scenes in part two were actually insane). but i’m so glad i found this book bc i just feel so excited to find other books to read that give me this same feeling. it reminded me of seven days in june with the whole high school lovers who find each other in adulthood & never stopped loving one another but this one was a bit better. seven days got a bit graphic with the cutting wrists scene & it ruined the vibe for me but i guess you could say that about the blood oath in this one lol. dunni was starting to get on my nerves with how she kept questioning her & obinna’s relationship & love but honestly after finding out in part two who she lives with, i can understand. i appreciate them giving the backstory of dunni’s mom past relationship but i hate that it came so late in the story. i also HATE how obinna found out that secret in part two & then what happened directly after??? like i was yelling at my phone in that whole chapter cuz wtf do you mean?? like at that point it was giving a tyler perry movie & i started to get pissed. that wasn’t rlly necessary for the plot tbh. it could’ve been so drastically different to still get the points across omg. & dunni rlly does see the worst in ppl sometimes bc yeah i get she was mad at obinna for not being there but like that’s the past!! how could he known that she was “…”?? girl please stop being so harsh on that man. anyways i could keep talking so imma stop lol but i enjoyed this book, a good read frfr
