This book adheres closely to an eight-hour CBS television film series titled "500 Nations", narrated and produced by Kevin Costner, Jack Leustig and Jim Wilson. An engaging read, with many colorful pictures.

This goes in chronological order, starting with the first peoples of the entire continent. Then Mexico, Columbus, de Soto, Roanoke, French/Indian War, Loss of the east, Struggle of the west, and the End of Freedom.

I also checked out the DVD collection from my local library, but its 1995 editing techniques made the video content very slow. I see the IMDB score is high, but I had trouble paying attention! I'd rather read and gain more information/minute!

I already own another all-encompassing book. I'd like to see this updated.
