There were parts of it that I really liked and parts that made me cringe. I think the relationship between Gabe and Sadie was good for the most part. Gabe was supportive and protective of Sadie; Sadie opened up and trusted in her relationship with Gabe. That’s really nice to see as most of the books in the series haven’t shown that initial trust/relationship building.  However, the commentary leading up to the first sexual encounter made me uncomfortable.
The reader figures out pretty early on that Sadie was assaulted, if not raped. Gabe making comments about being frustrated that she doesn’t want to be super physical right away really hit me wrong. He obviously didn’t know the full story, but she did tell him she left Missouri to get away from someone. She was obviously uncomfortable with certain physical contact, and I felt like he wasn’t always respectful of that. There were plenty of clues; he just chose to ignore them.
There weren’t any content warnings when I started this book, but I really encourage people to check them out, especially if they’re sensitive to sexual violence.

Suspense

This book was a great way to end thy he series! The story was suspenseful and gripping. It always ties up all the character stories at the end! Claire did a great job

After knowing Gabe from previous books, I was looking forward to his story. It ended up being sweet and even dramatic. This was a fairly emotional story. Overall, I enjoyed it. However, I did find it frustrating how much they underestimated the threats. And it was great to see all the couples find their happy endings, even if it was impossible to keep everyone and their kids straight.

This one was gentle and sweet, despite containing serious subject matters. I appreciate the realistic and respectful way being the survivor of assault was approached. I also appreciate that miscommunication was NOT part of the plot for the main couple, and that these characters were mature and talked about things before jumping to conclusions. They were so cute! I was rooting so hard for them. They both knew what they wanted and didn't deviate or let insecurities get in the way. That's so refreshing for a romance plot.

I also loved the glimpse of all 7 couples from the series, and their growing families, that we got in the epilogue. It was the perfect way to wrap the entire series up.

Gabe and Sadie!

Finally, Gabe gets his book and it's nothing short of amazing!! No longer in the background, Gabe steps up and is in true hero form!! Sadie, that poor girl! Everything she's endured--the way her family treated her--she could have given up, with no one in her corner, but she ends up in Jetty Beach trying to get through it. In spite of it all, she's as tough and strong as any woman could be, considering what she suffered. Once these two found each other, Gabe refused to let her go through it alone. He was there for her in a way no one else was. I was truly touched by this story in so many ways.

The Path To You

Wonderful ending to this series. Gabe was everything I thought he would be. Sadie did not come from a good place and I loved how Gabe healed her. He has just what she needed. And the ending was fantastic, catching up with all the couples in this series. I’ll miss Jetty Beach.
