I think Abby Jimenez has mastered the third act break up. Even though I always know it's coming, but every time it breaks my heart. Then she proceeds to put it back together in the most exquisite way possible. This felt so ridiculous and realistic all at once. I love the banter, the friendships, the spice. Yet another story that I can see becoming a movie.

What I love about this book is that, there’s a song dedicated (or a recommendation I think??) for every Chapter, a nova scotia duck tolling retriever (who’s name is Tucker), Sloan’s art, how Jason’s music helped Sloan in those dark times, camping and stuff sjjsjskks, sacrifices and finding joy in life again. This book also talks about serious things like what happened to Sloan

This was a fun read! This is a companion to The Friend Zone, but I didn't realize it and read this first so it was my first introduction to these characters. From the start I loved Sloane. I was interested in her backstory and I just loved seeing where she was now and knowing there would (hopefully!) be some movement in her life throughout this book. I loooooved Tucker! And I love a story with a musician so I also liked Jason. Basically, I loved all three of them, and I was ready for their story. I would have had no complaints but there was one trope that I'm just tired of.
SpoilerI can't remember the name of the female singer that Jason helps... Isla? The entire pretending to have slept with her plotline I could have done without. I get why it was there, but they could have parted ways for a while differently. That being said, I do appreciate that he overlooked his disdain for her and got her the help she needed because she needed someone to advocate for her. But letting Sloane believe he slept with her... really could've done without that and would've been satisfied if they had parted a different way.
Everything else was great and I really enjoyed this book.
