Well written and fully capturing the pure enthusiasm that Tom had for life, this was an emotional read and I had to take several breathers to make it through.

My thoughts are very much with Tom's family.

An engaging, simply written memoir. As a fan of Tom, there was a lot in this book that I was already aware of however I imagine to someone going in blind it would be eye opening to find out about it all.

This book had so much emotion poured into it. Tom was an amazing man with some amazing achievements. He talks about being in a band being a dad, husband and a friend. He talks about his story and how it made him the man he was. Tom should be so proud of this book and I hope he is resting easy now

‘Say my name like it’s the last time,
Live today like it’s your last night,
We want to cry but we know it’s alright,
Cause I’m with you and you’re with me.’

This is the heart-breaking yet inspiring truth, told in his own words, of a man, Tom Parker, who should’ve had his whole life ahead of him but sadly was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Although I was aware of The Wanted, and of Tom’s diagnosis, enough to want to read his book, it wasn’t something I was particularly familiar with until reading this book and for someone who wasn’t aware, it set the context of Tom’s career and chronology of events, simply and in a way that was easy to follow without any prior knowledge.

The book, whilst it covers Tom’s diagnosis, shares much more of his life pre-cancer than I was expecting and in doing so gives a greater sense of loss. It didn’t for a second become self-indulgent or wallowing…if anything it felt the opposite, more matter of fact and straight talking…an objective view of what happened and when.

It was incredibly brave to be so open and transparent, and Tom shares the medical details without holding back in the hope he can inspire others to be brave and to have hope too.

I found elements of this book deeply upsetting, particularly when he reflects on his children and the impact of his illness and diagnosis on his family, and I would urge any readers to bear this in mind before reading.

A difficult read, but a book as strong and courageous as the man behind it.
