Obsidian Feathers was a stellar read that really went in depth with the mythology associated. You can tell the absolute care and research that was done to accomplish this novel.
In this book we follow a body positive, strong FMC that has family troubles and wants nothing more than to escape. She's set up by her family to marry a man she doesn't love, and she's pretty sure doesn't love her. Given the opportunity to travel for work to Guatemala, she jumps at the chance to get away, clear her head, and prepare to try and stand up to her family and walk away from their expectations, demands and her impending marriage. The first night in Guatemala she stumbles upon a long lost childhood friend whom she had a significant moment with early in childhood. She doesn't remember him, but he remembers her. She's instantly attracted and things go from there. There's betryals, secrets, mythology, magic, shapshifting and so many other amazing happenings in this book.
I can't recommend this book enough. It's utterly magical and totally unforgettable.

Beyond beautiful
This story is so well written and delicately crafted. It's woven with tendrils of dark romance, native american mythology, and folklore, and so much heart and power poured into it..
This had me crying because it's so omnipotent and magnificent. It's beautiful beyond description. It embraces and details the part of native american culture that is misunderstood and vilified.
These are the stories I wish we had more of. Stories that explore and showcase the beauty of our culture. Stories that don't shy away from the darkness, but embrace it for the power it holds.
Traditions that still survive, traditions that have morphed and survived the passing of time.
A story like no other and one I hope carves the path for many to come.

Listen, I know it’s supposed to be a growing point for the male lead, and that there’s something sis’s about her pills to begin with from the text. But he throws them away while saying she’ll get over it, and he’s extremely controlling and I’m just too uncomfortable with this romance.
