Fresh out of the Blue Skies duology, I felt a need to learn more about Wiley's story.
In hindsight I should probably have waited. In such a direct and immediate comparison, The Dragon Tree Legacy didn't quite live up to my expectations.

There is plenty of action in this story, but clearly not as much or as fast paced as in the Blue Skies books. And there's a lot of information about the criminal underworld that I sometimes struggled to process.
By the second half of the book, I couldn't be bothered to care about who the various criminals were and who was trying to screw whom.
That's partly on me for sure, but also partly due to the fact that those complex relationships did not have a direct effect on the plot and its protagonists like I've gotten used to in the Devil series.

Overall this wasn't half bad, and I might have enjoyed it more had I read it at a different time.
