This was... Not great. It felt like the final quarter of a book, like there should have been 200+more pages of character building and world building. Even the characters you knew already felt like strangers. But nope. Action packed is not necessarily good.

On top of that the romance??? Like I knew they would end up together just because of the writing but... Really? It was so contrived. So sudden. Like. Why? I just didn't enjoy this one nearly as much as the first one. At least it's kinda short.

I could not get into this book. I’ve read Adrienne Young’s adult book, Spells for Forgetting, and absolutely loved it. So I think I was expecting this to be just as atmospheric and enchanting, but it just fell short for me. However, I know this is a YA, so it’s not quite an equal comparison.

every time I see this book I want to throw it out my window
Listen it’s fine. Nothing horrible, but nothing good. For me I just have a simmering hatred towards it but that’s just a me thing lol
I despise it for everything it promises to be and then it’s just not. I don’t know what it was, but I just can’t stand the stakes that aren’t really stakes, the ?? pacing, and the shallow shallow characters.
Idk I read this a few years ago but I just needed to say this

the first book was not bad but this book was so boring it took me so long to finish even though it's relatively short.. i felt like it was an interesting plot but the execution bored me and i couldn't care less about any of the characters and after awhile i didn't care about tova and halvard and their connection is just lacking i wouldn't waste my time on this book like i truly wasted my time with this i wanna give this a zero but that's not possible kind of bad
