A dystopian classic, following the life of Alex, a teenager with fondness for violence and sexual assault. The book follows his life of crime, his conviction, and life after behaviour modification.

This book is one that most people know of, and have a general idea of, but very few seem to have read it. Working my way through the book was hard at the beginning, getting used to Nadsat was difficult in the first few chapters, but I quickly was able to read with relative ease. The language added something, that I can’t quite put my finger on, but made the book more enjoyable as a result. The book was disturbing, there was a lot of focus on violence, sexual assault, murder, and the details were chilling. But the behaviour modification technique and the results following it, was just as hard to read. Complicated issues of politics, free will, responsibility, crime are explored in a way that I can’t see any other book ever doing as well. This book was fast paced, short, and left me with a book hangover. Thought-provoking, dark and completely captivating, its a book that won’t leave me for a long time.

Damnnnn. The thing that most stands out to me here is the ethical message, which I really don't feel educated enough about to critisize.

This is certainly a compelling book, though I think the final act could have been wrapped up quicker (Alex's rapid back and forth at the end didn't really work for me).

Loved the use of language in this one, and was surprised how quickly I picked up 90% of the slang from context.

Will be fascinated to see the film and learn more about the author's ethical perspective!

I would never have made it through this audiobook if I hadn't just watched the movie for the first time. The language sure takes some getting used to- plus the narrator's strong accent was tough for me!

I really liked the book much better than the movie. The ending was much more hopeful!
