This is another text I am studying for A-Level. Fitzgerald is a beautiful writer and his descriptions are so wonderfully crafted. The Great Gatsby is an absolute work of art and it is also so fun to read. Unlike most classics, it doesn't have an overly convoluted vocabulary so it is quite relaxing and enjoyable. The storyline is fantastic and the characters are so well crafted. The only criticism I have is the lack of diversity. However, it is deliberately written to show the flaws in upper class white society so I understand why there isn't much diversity. I do absolutely love the critiques of capitalism and the American Dream in this book though!
