So blissfully painful, this one

This book was the hardest to get through thus far in the series. Oh sweet James: easily my tied for second favorite guy in this little world she created, was so maddeningly tragic. He fell in love with someone who couldn’t love him in the way he needed to be loved. It took so painstakingly long for Ryan to realize what he really wanted in his life. Tristan is still my favorite, though! James and Gabriel are my tied second. I love this series and am looking forward to it getting a little darker with Luke’s story next.

3.5 They cute.

Old Review: This one reminded me a little of Gabriel and Jared's story and I just got Gabriel but with Ryan I just couldn't get on board with him, he kinda pissed me off a little and I think James deserves better. Def my least fave of the series.

I feel like a limb torn from you.

this volume was a lot. in a lot of ways. i just feel like it could have been a tad better. i like the connection between Tristan and James, and the way their pasts and presents intertwine and actually make the story make sense. i guess i just wished the ending wouldn't have been so positive, if it makes any sort of sense? friends to lovers trope aside, it's just difficult for me to imagine Ryan suddenly waking up one day and feeling completely 100% okay with everything he feels for James. i feel like it would've made much more sense to leave it on a note of yeah, we both want something from each other and we will figure it out step by step, especially since Ryan is the only character who i feel actually had the most issues with his sexuality throughout the entire serie (until now, at least). the shift came too suddenly i think and seems a bit forced.

I loooove a good unrequited love pining best friends to lovers slow burn and this book would have been great had Ryan not brought up seeing James “as a little brother” five billion times.
