I am not someone that is majorly into video games, so while many of the references were new to me, it was a very fun read that the author clearly is very passionate about. I thought I had figured out the plot several times, but the author managed to surprise me! This book is perfect for someone that loves an epic story, some slight romance, and pop culture references.

The majority of the novel focuses on life in a virtual reality and there was a significant parallel between this virtual reality and how much society spends with their nose in social media. A great reminder to unplug and live in the real world!

I listened to this audiobook with my 15 year old. We both LOVED it! It was filled with 80s pop culture, some of it very obscure, and heavy on the gaming side, but you could still follow along if it was foreign to you. Just a great "page turner." Wil Wheaton was the perfect narrator (he even had a cameo). Just a fun book all around.

I really loved reading [b:Ready Player One|9969571|Ready Player One|Ernest Cline|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1383399667s/9969571.jpg|14863741]. I'm an unabashed geek who loves reading sci-fi and fantasy, watching shows like Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who, playing video games, and obsessing over the smallest details of whatever's my current geeky interest. Ready Player One celebrates all those things I love, PLUS throws in a ton of 80s pop-culture. It's a perfect match.

I loved the characters. I could totally relate to their feelings of otherness. I could also relate to the genuine happiness the characters felt in meeting people that understand and accept them for who they are. In addition to really feeling the characters, the plot was so much fun! It was a really, easy read and I stayed up really late this morning reading 75% of it in one sitting.

This is the second book I've read this year that has lived up to all the hype. It was took the #1 spot in the Science Fiction Book Club's Top 11 Books of 2011, and everyone I've talked to about it gave it rave reviews. I'm happy to join my voice to the throng of adoring readers, and I'd greatly recommend it to anyone who grew up in the 80s, loves all-things geeky and/or those who haven't always fit in.
