I really like the 1923 Special and the guest comics. Looking forward the closure of Wicked + Divine with volume 9.

Yeaaa I didn’t really like this volume, as it included a bunch of different stories that could’ve easily been expanded into their own volumes. It distracted me from the main story, just when things were starting to piece together towards a conclusion. It was also a little difficult for me to read the one chapter written in prose rather than comic form. The redeeming parts were getting to see Lucifer and Amaterasu as friends before they became gods and the Scooby-Doo parody.

At first I was annoyed when I found out that this was a collection of Specials, rather than a continuation of the main narrative. Then this became my favourite volume of WikDiv so far. All the stories of the Pantheon through the ages were wonderful, but the 1831 issue, in which the Gods are all writers from the period, and the main story is set in Villa Diodati, with the Shelleys, Byron, and Clairmont? Absolutely amazingly fabulous! I borrowed this from my local library; suspect I’ll have to buy a copy I can reread over and over again.

Not the strongest volume in the collection. Honestly, probably my least favorite volume. This one focuses a lot more on the history and there are full pages of text which became tedious to read. But it was interesting to continue to put the pieces together of this story and it made me so excited to read the final volume.

Of course the one with the one offs is my favourite one.

ETA ok, bunch of comics nerds whinging about having to read an Agatha Christie homage is my new favourite thing, you absolute dweebs. Now it's six stars.
