This was definitely multi-sequel terrible. Linear, predictable, and way too many convenient fictions to move the story along

If you like cozy family stories, quirky situations and road trips, tender wholesome tales, you must read the Vanderbeekers.
For me this was the weakest in the series - it stretched believability at times, and needed more in the way of tension / risk. I think the other books address richer themes. Still, I love this family to the moon and will be so sad to say goodbye in the last book.
Reminds me of:
The Penderwicks
Lines I underlined:
“Target was the best place in the world, Laney thought as they walked through the huge store.”
“Wasn’t it funny how you could feel so drawn to home and still feel an urge to explore the whole world.”
