Heavily confused all the way through this book.... unsure if it’s the confusing writing style or the fact I was reading half chapters here and there....

Bad idea to pick this book if you want to get out of a reading slump. The book did nothing to me. Got a little better towards the end but still failed to entertain me. And I will have cared less even if the comet would have crashed the earth because I just wanted to get done with this book.

A distinct improvement over the original book in this setting, Shadowmancer. The setting also felt more distinctly lived-in, and the characters were more interesting and complex. Still read fairly slow, but the pacing problems were smoothed out better.

Eh. Either it was hard to follow with all the names and random, seemingly pointless details or I just didn't care enough to pay attention.

Wouldn't say I disliked it, but I can't really say I liked it, either. There were certainly interesting parts... just not redeeming.
