I heard so many good things about this book and I was really excited to read it. It was good but for me it was missing something. Iā€™m not sure what but I didnā€™t feel fully connected to the characters. But overall it was enjoyable to read

this book would probably be half as long if either Hunter went to therapy or Marley wasnā€™t a HUGE pushover

i love enemies to lovers, but this wasnā€™t it.. plot was good, but execution was subpar, couldā€™ve been so much better

Hunter is the biggest ass & was such a man child 70% of the time, then thereā€™s Marley who lets everyone walk over her

3 stars anyway since it was a quick & easy read, but not something iā€™s remember

Two broken people. His self destructive behavior has him careening towards death from trauma and guilt after loss. She shines a light in the darkness. He reflects it backā€”once he works through his issues. A hard fought for coming together of two people.

This was excellent. Read it in one sitting. A beautifully crafted story that I could not put down. The plot, the prose, the mouth on Hunterā€¦

Tell me a story in a good ,cliche, enterteining way but give me too a female character with real personality, with grow, layers through the story. Here Is zero, annoying, guidable and easily manipulated for men / bad boys types...

is it me am i the issue because I didnā€™t hate Hunter at all like I disliked some things he did and would definitely yell at him but I kinda knew the reason he did those things which explained his actions but didnā€™t justify them. I think his character was very realistic and I donā€™t know what Iā€™d do if I was in his situation and itā€™s so sad to think that this is based off an actual person but Iā€™m glad the person is doing better now :)

dnfed this book. hunter was an asshole that didnt care about anyoneā€™s feelings and continued to use his motherā€™s death as an excuse to treat ppl like absolute trash.
edit: direct book qoute: ā€œTo me, Bambi didnā€™t have no feelings. She justā€¦ existed, I guess.ā€

2204 Hunter Lane is not at all what I expected it to be. When I started following the updates on TikTok (yes, I still get book recs from that darn app) I was expecting to only be all in for Hunter Lane himself and the spice, because thatā€™s all booktok ever recommends these days. Now that Iā€™ve gone through the entirety of the book, Iā€™m honestly pleased to say that I was wrong. I hated Hunter. Well, hate was a strong word but he made me feel like heā€™s not a good main character material. He was unbearably rude and I wholly agreed with Marley and her ā€˜throw men to apex predatorsā€™ world-view. He certainly didnā€™t deserve anything Marley was offering him - the patience and understanding that he was in a bad place and needed help. Because, how hard was it to just open up to someone and just heal? I was wrong yet again and so was Marley. When we get to know the real Hunter Lane, underneath all that layers to thorns and barbs I realised that it is in fact not that easy to just let everything out in the air. The pain that he felt and carried felt heavy even from a strangerā€™s perspective, and he did carry and bottle those feelings for so long it made me feel like an asshole for judging when we know him so little. Which made me realise that Hunter Lane really is a strong person underneath all of that prickly personality. In fact Iā€™d say every single one of the Lanes and Marley are the strongest, kindest people. I freaking love Marley from page one and because of the slow burn pacing, I was so ready to throw Hunter out and root for Marley alone. Despite her insecurities she was tougher than she thought, stupid parents be damned. The writing itself is fun and engaging, so even though I usually chuck slowburns away for taking too long, this one keeps me curious and hooked every chapter until the very end. To which I have to say: to the real Hunter Lane, the one who this book is based on, I hope youā€™re enjoying your happiness always. Iā€™m so proud of you.
