Can devotion and love be so pristine that one may dissolve in them?

Meera, the young Princess of Merta, once asks her mother, when her bridegroom will come to meet her. Her mother tells her that Lord Krishna is her groom. A casual joke cracked by her mother makes a huge impact on Meera’s life. From that day onwards Meera dedicates herself to serve Lord Krishna. Her devotion cuts her off from this world and transfers her to a spiritual realm which cannot be comprehended by many of her relatives
Meerabai is the story of a girl who is a strong devotee of Lord Krishna and this tale is a fable that can be heard from mostly all elderly Indians. So the story starts with Meera asking her mother who her groom is and she teasingly told her its Lord Krishna and everyone who knows Krishna’s tale can relate to this. And from that moment on, she started to believe that her life is for serving Lord Krishna and she always thought of him in her mind. Even after she got married she did not kick off the thoughts of Krishna from her mind as for her Lord Krishna is her groom and she has had offered herself for him. Even when her husband’s household tried to poison her she was unaffected and believes that Krishna won’t let anything happen to her and when her whole family got fed up with her deep devotion to Krishna she decided to abandon them to leave to Madura, Krishna’s birthplace. There are many Bajans sang by her which is effective till these days.
And I don’t know much about the tales, I just wanted to read something light and I took this book from my school’s library. It’s been a few years since I read this book and I can’t recollect the tiny details of the book. A much-recommended read which will make you understand why obsession (here; devotion) is known as scary.
