If you enjoyed 90s, early 00s, Chuck Dixon run on the Bat-family comics, you'd love this comic!

The best stuff in this volume of Detective Comics is the character development for Cassandra Cain, and a mini-comic at the end centered on Azreal and Batwing. The League of Shadows themselves fail to be that compelling of a villainous group, and are really just a vehicle for Cain aka Orphan to learn more about herself and show us how freaking badass she is. This little girl has NO PROBLEM taking down Batman, as well as an army of "the most deadly fighters from all over that the world has ever known" (eye roll).

James Tynion's work continues to be a joy to read. The focus on Orphan was sensible due to her ties with the enemies. Miss Spoiler and Red Robin.

This book gets seven stars for focusing on my girl, Cassandra, but loses two for messing up her parents so badly. Cassandra's bizarre relationships Cain and Shiva in the old DC Universe were some of the bests aspects of her series and played a big role in her personality. A third star is taken away because they...

MASSIVE SPOILER!!!!!!!!

...killed off Shiva, which is UNACCEPTABLE! Here's hoping she gets resurrected in a later volume.

Story for Orphan is great! The last few issues didn’t flow with the rest of the narrative and were jumping around a lot
